{{indexmenu_n>16}} ====== Group choice ====== The "**Group choice**" activity is required if students are to select themselves into Moodle groups. \\ Moodle groups can be used, for example, to display materials only for certain students. Or groups can discuss among themselves in the forum. Or tasks can be submitted as a group. In activities, user contributions can be filtered by group membership. Find more on groups in the topic "[[de:moodle:user:groups:start#gruppenwahlstudierende_waehlen_selbst_eine_gruppe_aus|Groups]]". ===== Set up “Group choice” ===== **Note**: First create the "[[en:moodle:user:groups:start|Groups]]". Then add the "**Group choice**". \\ - Turn on "**Edit mode**" and click on “**Add an activity or resource**”. \\ - Select “**Group choice**” from the list. \\ - Fill out the form. \\ - In the Groups area, select all groups that should be available for students to choose from (multiple selection by holding down the "**Ctrl**" key). \\ - Confirm with “**Save and return to course**. {{:en:moodle:activities:group:groupchoice.png?600|}} ===== Limit group size ===== Make the following entries in the "**Group choice**" settings: * Under "**Miscellaneous settings**", enable the option “**Limit the number of responses allowed**”. * Enter the maximum number of participants under “**General limitation**”. * Confirm with the “**Apply to all groups**” button. {{:en:moodle:activities:group:grouplimit.png?600|}} **To set individual upper limits for individual groups:** 1. In the "**Group choice**" settings, under "**Miscellaneous settings**", enable the option “**Limit the number of responses allowed**”. \\ 2. Under “**Groups**”, column “**Selected Groups**”, first mark the respective group. \\ 3. Enter the desired number in the section "**Limit for** (group name)".
