Importing videos - course to course
This section describes how to import videos from one Moodle course to be used in another Moodle course.
To enable the import wizard in Moodle to guide you through the import process, call it up on the Opencast overview (in the Opencast block) in the Import videos from another course section via the “Import videos from another course” button of the same name.
Step 1 - Select source course
The wizard in step 1 of 4 will then open directly, with which you first select the source course in which the desired videos are located.
If you already have access to a large number of courses, you can also shorten the list using the search function at the bottom left. Once you have selected your course, click on the “Continue” button to proceed to the next step.
It is important to ensure that all videos are available in the source course. This means that the eye symbol must not be crossed out in the “Visibility” column in the Opencast block! Otherwise there may be problems with the import.
Step 2 - Select videos
In this step, you can decide which videos from the old course should be transferred to the new course.
If not all videos are to be transferred, you can select or deselect individual videos. If you are satisfied with your selection, click on the “Continue” button to proceed to the next step.
Step 3 - Customizing the imported Opencast activities
In this step, you can choose to customize the Opencast activities in the course so that they work with the imported videos.
The dialog first displays information that Opencast activities have been found in the course. This is also true for our new demo course, as we have imported both the series and the single video activity from the old course. In our example, we want the status to be exactly the same as in the old course, which is why we are not making any adjustments to the default settings here. We specify that both the series and the individual video activity should be adjusted for the imported videos. Clicking on the “Continue” button takes us to the fourth step.
Step 4 - Summary and confirm
In this dialog you will receive a summary of the selections you have just made.
If all settings are correct, start the processing by clicking on the “Import videos and return to the overview” button.
